How do we know God chooses the elect?

Answered in 2 sources

We know God chooses the elect through His word, which reveals that His selection is based on grace, not human works, as explained in Romans 8:30.

The certainty of God's election of the faithful can be found in Scripture, which repeatedly emphasizes that His choice is not based on any merit of our own. Romans 8:30 notes that those whom He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; and those He justified, He also glorified. This assures us that God's grace is at work in the life of every believer. The example of David, chosen to be king despite being the least regarded among his brothers, further illustrates that God's election often defies human understanding and preferences. It ultimately conveys the message that God is sovereign over salvation and calls His elect according to His own purpose and will.
