How do we know God chooses to save sinners by grace?

Ephesians 2:8-9 clearly states, 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that, not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.' This highlights that our salvation is not a result of our efforts or righteousness but is a divine gift from God.
