How do we know God does not tempt us to sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible asserts that God cannot be tempted by evil and does not tempt anyone to sin.

James 1:13 clearly states that God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does He tempt any man. Temptation to sin arises from our corrupt nature, not from God. The scripture emphasizes that every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust (James 1:14), highlighting the responsibility of humanity for their actions and desires. To ascribe our sins to God is blasphemous, for He is pure and righteous.
