How do we know God doesn't want us to love the world?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture explicitly states that loving the world means we do not have the love of the Father in us (1 John 2:15).

The Bible provides clear evidence that God implores His people not to love the world. In 1 John 2:15, John states unequivocally that if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them. This indicates a stark contrast between the values of the world and the principles of God. Furthermore, various scriptures reinforce this teaching, reminding believers that the world and its desires are fleeting, and that true fulfillment comes from doing the will of God, which aligns with eternal life through Christ. Thus, our allegiance to God requires that our hearts be set on things above, not on earthly matters.
