How do we know God has a plan for suffering?

Answered in 1 source

God allows suffering for the greater purpose of glorifying Himself and molding believers into the image of Christ.

The sovereignty of God encompasses even our suffering, as He works all things according to His purpose (Ephesians 1:11). Suffering serves as a tool in God’s hands to refine us and demonstrate His faithfulness. Daniel’s distress over the judgments foretold reflects a prophetic understanding that God’s ultimate plan involves the purification of His people. As seen in Hebrews 12:5-11, God disciplines those He loves, producing a harvest of righteousness in our lives. This means that while we may not understand the specifics of our suffering, we trust in God’s purpose and His power to bring good from it, leading to our sanctification and His glory.
