How do we know God hears our prayers in times of suffering?

When we experience affliction, it often leads us to introspectively consider our relationship with God. The assurance that God hears our prayers is rooted in our understanding of grace; as expressed in Romans 8:26, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, interceding for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. Thus, our inability to articulate our suffering does not hinder God's hearing.
