How do we know God is forgiving?

Answered in 1 source

We know God is forgiving because He continually offers mercy and fulfills His promises despite our failures.

God’s forgiveness is a central theme in Scripture, illustrated profoundly in His dealings with Abraham. Despite Abraham's fear-led deception, God does not abandon him but instead affirms His covenant and purpose. This reflects the biblical assurance that God is 'amplio en perdonar' (Isaiah 55:7). In the New Testament, we see this truth come to fruition through Jesus Christ, who bears the punishment for our sins. 1 John 1:9 highlights that if we confess our sins, 'Él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados y limpiarnos de toda maldad.' God's forgiveness allows us to approach Him without fear of condemnation, as our guilt has been removed by Christ, who bore our iniquities. Therefore, our assurance of God's forgiving nature is rooted in the atoning work of Christ and the faithful promises of God throughout Scripture.
