How do we know God is good in the face of suffering?

Answered in 1 source

God's goodness is seen in His sovereignty, which includes all elements of life, including suffering.

In times of suffering and trials, we may question God's goodness, but Scripture reassures us that He works all things for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28). This understanding of God's goodness is rooted in His sovereignty and righteousness. As we see in Psalm 145:17-19, the Lord is holy and righteous in all His ways, meaning that even the painful parts of our lives ultimately serve His purpose and glorify Him. Trusting in God’s providential plan helps us to find peace in our suffering, knowing it contributes to our growth and eventual good.
