How do we know God is in control during adversity?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture assures us that God works all things according to the counsel of His will, as stated in Ephesians 1:11.

God's sovereignty over all circumstances, including adversity, is a fundamental principle in Reformed theology. Ephesians 1:11 affirms that God works all things after the counsel of His own will. This means that nothing occurs outside of His purposeful direction. When facing trials and tribulations, believers can find solace in the understanding that God ordains these events to fulfill His divine plan, which ultimately leads to the good of His chosen people and the manifestation of His glory. Habakkuk illustrates this truth by acknowledging God's control over nations and events to achieve His corrective purposes (Habakkuk 1:12-13).
