How do we know God is in control of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

We know God controls salvation because Scripture explicitly states He gives life to whom He wills (John 5:21).

The sovereignty of God in salvation is clearly articulated in the Scriptures, particularly in Romans 9. Paul teaches us that it is not of human will or effort but entirely due to God's divine purpose that some receive mercy and others do not. John 5:21 states, 'For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.' This verse emphasizes God's absolute authority over life and salvation, reinforcing the idea that our faith and repentance are initiated by God's merciful choice rather than our own decision-making. Recognizing that God is in control of salvation encourages us to trust in Him and not to rely on our own understanding.
