How do we know God is just in His judgments?

Answered in 3 sources

God's justice is evident as He condemns sin, and believers acknowledge their deserving punishment but hope for mercy.

David understood God's justice, recognizing that if he were to face condemnation, God would be just in doing so (Psalm 73:13-14). When a believer is afflicted, they come to see their own sinfulness and the reality of God's holiness. It becomes clear that the justice of God in condemning sinners is rightly deserved. Those who think they deserve mercy have misunderstood the nature of God's grace; it is only by recognizing their position as the chief of sinners, as Paul described, that they can truly appreciate the sacrifice of Christ and the mercy extended to them. God's justice balances His mercy, showcasing His righteousness as He provides a way through the atonement offered in His Son.
