How do we know God is our portion?

Answered in 2 sources

God is our portion as believers, meaning that He is our ultimate inheritance and source of fulfillment both in this life and in eternity.

In understanding God as our portion, we recognize that He is not just a part of our lives, but the very center of our existence. Psalm 73:26 emphasizes that God is the strength of our hearts and our everlasting portion. This means that our hopes and desires should be rooted in Him above all else. Our satisfaction and contentment in life are derived solely from our relationship with God, who is unchanging and everlasting, unlike worldly possessions which are transient. In Christ, we have the assurance of a glorious inheritance that is eternal and cannot be taken away, reinforcing that He alone is our source of joy and fulfillment both now and into eternity.
