How do we know God is sovereign in the story of Jacob and his family?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty is evident as He uses the flawed actions of Jacob and Laban to fulfill His promise to Israel.

The events surrounding Jacob, Leah, and Rachel are a powerful testament to God's sovereignty. While Jacob is deceived by Laban into marrying Leah, whom he does not love, God sees Leah's plight and opens her womb to bear children. Despite human deceit and manipulation, God's sovereign will prevails, resulting in Leah's offspring becoming the foundation of the twelve tribes of Israel. This demonstrates that while humans are responsible for their actions, God uses even sinful circumstances for His ultimate purpose, as all events are under His divine providence.
