How do we know God is sovereign over our decisions?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty is evident in how He redirected David’s intentions regarding the temple, illustrating that His plans prevail over our desires.

The narrative in 1 Chronicles 17 illustrates God's sovereignty clearly when David expresses his desire to build a house for the Lord. Despite David's sincere intentions, God intervenes through Nathan the prophet to make it clear that David will not be the one to build the temple. This event teaches us that while human beings may have strong desires and plans, it is ultimately God's will that prevails. The distinction between what we wish to do and what God actually ordains reveals His supreme authority in guiding and shaping our actions according to His divine purpose. Thus, in the life of every believer, humility and submission to God's will is essential.
