How do we know God is speaking to us?

Answered in 2 sources

We learn that God speaks through His Word and the preaching of the gospel, as illustrated in Samuel's experience.

God communicates with His people primarily through His Word. In 1 Samuel 3, although Samuel did not initially recognize God's voice, it was through Eli’s instruction and the word of God that Samuel learned to respond to God's call. The text teaches that humility and a posture of listening are essential for recognizing God's voice. Just like Samuel, all believers are encouraged to 'be still' and seek God's instruction, enabling them to discern His voice amidst the noise of the world. This speaks to a broader understanding of how we are to engage with Scripture and be receptive to God's guidance in our lives.
