How do we know God is unique and distinct from other gods?

Answered in 1 source

God's uniqueness is validated by His power, sovereignty, and the eternal truth revealed in Scripture.

The distinctiveness of God is founded on His supreme power and the truth expressed in Scripture. In 1 Timothy 6:16, it's stated that He 'only hath immortality, dwelling in light which no man can approach unto.' Unlike man-made idols that require the worshippers' support to exist, God exists in complete independence and self-sufficiency. The eternal nature of God, His immutable will, and the fact that He alone created all things, further support His uniqueness as the only true deity. Contrasted with false gods, Scripture reveals a God who acts decisively according to His sovereign will, establishing His solitariness in the face of idolatry.
