How do we know God is with us even when we feel abandoned?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible tells us that God remains with us, even when we perceive His absence, as He is our constant protector.

Believers can find assurance in the truth that God's presence does not depend on their feelings. Even in moments when God appears distant, as illustrated in Exodus 14, He is actively involved in the lives of His children. The children of Israel feared they were forsaken as they faced the Red Sea, but God was actually protecting them from behind. This expression of His presence reveals that He has not abandoned His people; rather, He uses moments of apparent absence to strengthen their faith and draw them towards Him. The Psalms often echo this sentiment, where the longing for God's presence is paired with the recognition of His enduring faithfulness. Thus, faith is not reliant on sight or feelings but rests on the promises of God.
