How do we know God loves us despite our suffering?

Answered in 3 sources

God's love for us is assured through Scriptures that affirm His commitment to His people, even in their afflictions.

God's love is not contingent upon our circumstances; rather, it is confirmed by His covenant promises. In John 11:3, the sisters say to Jesus, 'behold, he whom thou lovest is sick,' reflecting their understanding that God’s love does not exclude them from sufferings. Romans 5:8 powerfully states that God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. This unconditional love reassures us that afflictions serve a purpose in His plan, ultimately aimed at our sanctification and His glory. Therefore, suffering does not negate His love but is sometimes a means through which His love is manifested.
