How do we know God loves us through chastening?

Answered in 2 sources

We know God loves us through His chastening because it proves we are His children and reflects His commitment to our spiritual growth.

Hebrews 12:6 states, 'For whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth.' This verse reveals that God's chastening is a sign of His love and fatherly care for us. Just as earthly fathers correct their children out of love, God's discipline serves a righteous purpose: to mold us into partakers of His holiness. By facing correction, we can be assured of our place in God's family, affirming that He is committed to our sanctification and spiritual well-being. Thus, chastening should be viewed as a demonstration of divine love rather than a cause for despair.
