How do we know God loves us when we feel sad?

Answered in 1 source

God’s love remains unwavering even in our moments of sorrow, as His love for us is constant (Psalm 42:11).

In times of sadness, it can feel as though God's love is distant, but Scripture reminds us that His love is steadfast regardless of our emotional state. Psalm 42:11 provides clarity as the psalmist asks, "Why art thou cast down, O my soul?" and then encourages himself to hope in God. This indicates an understanding that God's love persists even amid our struggles. Charles Spurgeon emphasized that believers should not yield to gloomy anticipations but instead remember that God's love endures through all trials and tribulations.
