How do we know God promises to save those who trust Him?

Answered in 1 source

God's promises are sure because He is the all-sufficient and immutable God who fulfills His word.

The assurance of God's promises stems from His character as the Almighty, immutable God, as discussed in Romans 4:17, where it's noted that God 'calls those things which be not as though they were.' This reveals God's role as the sovereign Creator who is capable of performing what He promises. In addition, Abraham's faith serves as an example of trusting in God's ability to fulfill His promise of salvation, demonstrating that our confidence should not be in ourselves but in God's unchanging nature and fidelity to His word.
