How do we know God's anger is directed at false religions?

Answered in 1 source

God's anger is evident in His condemnation of practices that mix His truth with human teachings.

God's anger is particularly acute towards those who misrepresent Him by mixing His gospel with human works and ideas. This is highlighted in the sermon as God expresses His displeasure with the Israelites who, despite their claims of devotion, practiced idolatry and defined their righteousness through their works. Such actions lead to a corrupted understanding of God, resulting in a false gospel that God condemns. Scripture consistently links God's anger to the distortion of His truth, demonstrating that where His gospel is compromised, His wrath is provoked.
