How do we know God's approval of our prayers?

Answered in 1 source

God's approval of our prayers is affirmed when they are aligned with His will and motivated by a desire for His glory.

To ensure our prayers meet God's approval, we must examine not only our petitions but also the motives behind them. As highlighted in James 4:3, many fail to receive answers because they ask with selfish desires. In contrast, true prayer seeks to magnify God's holy name and operates out of a heart yearning for His glory, as demonstrated in Elijah's prayer on Mount Carmel.

Additionally, 1 John 5:14 assures believers that confidence in prayer comes from asking according to His will. This aligns with the principle that active submission to God's will should characterize our lives, as we remember our status as His servants. Hence, when our prayers reflect a genuine commitment to doing God's will, they are likely to be met with divine approval. It is in such humility and earnestness that God delights to respond.
