How do we know God's calling is effective?

Answered in 11 sources

God's calling is effective because it creates the response of faith in the believer, as seen when Lazarus came forth at Jesus's command.

The effectiveness of God's calling can be confirmed through the transformative power displayed in the resurrection of Lazarus. When Jesus said, 'Lazarus, come forth,' Lazarus, who was dead, obeyed the call and walked out of his tomb. This represents the effectual call of God that cannot be resisted and leads to faith and obedience in those whom God has chosen. Romans 8:30 emphasizes that those whom God predestined, He also called; this chain of salvation culminates in being justified and glorified. Thus, the assurance we have in God's call is reflected in the radical change it brings in the lives of the called.
