How do we know God's chastisement is for our good?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture assures us that God's chastening is always intended for our good and growth in righteousness.

God's chastisement is never meant for punishment, as our sins were already dealt with through Christ. Instead, it serves a higher purpose: to correct and guide us toward righteousness. The Apostle Paul writes in Hebrews 12:11 that while chastening may not seem joyful at the moment, it yields 'a peaceable fruit of righteousness' for those who are exercised by it. This teaches us that our difficulties are part of God's training process, aimed at shaping us into better reflections of Christ.
