How do we know God's grace is given to the unclean?

Answered in 1 source

God's grace is particularly for those who recognize their uncleanliness and need for redemption.

Throughout scripture, particularly in the parable of Bartimaeus, we see that God delights in showing mercy to the unclean. The unclean, like Bartimaeus, represent those who understand their depravity and their inability to save themselves. In Leviticus 13, the law outlines the condition of the leper, who is considered unclean. This mirrors our spiritual condition—without Christ, we are all unclean. The gospel declares that those who come to Christ in faith, acknowledging their sin and unworthiness, receive grace freely. God has provided a way for the unclean to be made clean through the sacrifice of Christ (Isaiah 53:5), demonstrating that mercy is available to all who recognize their desperate need.
