How do we know God's grace is necessary for unity?

Answered in 1 source

God's grace is the foundation for unity among believers, as it is through His grace that we are brought together and sustained as one body (Psalm 133:2).

The unity described in Psalm 133 is rooted in the grace of God, which is likened to precious ointment that anoints Aaron, the high priest. This ointment symbolizes the rare and valuable nature of God’s grace, which unites His people and flows from Christ, the anointed one. Just as the ointment was necessary for the priestly role of Aaron, so is grace essential for the functioning of the church as the body of Christ. It binds us together, making us reliant on each other as well as on the grace that God provides (2 Corinthians 12:9). Without this grace, our efforts towards unity would be inadequate and fall short of the divine standard.
