How do we know God’s grace is selective?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture reveals that God's grace is given to the elect according to His purpose and sovereignty.

The concept of selective grace is rooted in the doctrine of election, where God chooses individuals for salvation based on His divine will, not on any foreseen merit. As noted in Ephesians 1:4-5, God chose His elect before the foundation of the world. This selective grace ensures that those who receive spiritual sight are called out from a world under God's wrath, as was the case with the blind man in Bethsaida. Jesus’s command to the healed man not to return to the town illustrates that some are chosen to receive His grace while others, like those in Bethsaida, might remain in their spiritual blindness due to their rejection of the gospel. This distinction reflects the Reformed understanding that God’s purpose in salvation is ultimately for His glory.
