How do we know God's holiness is vital for our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

God's holiness is integral to salvation because it establishes the standard by which we are called to live and shows our utter inability to meet that standard without His grace.

In 1 Samuel 2:2, Hannah proclaims, 'There is none holy as the Lord; there is none beside thee.' God's holiness is crucial for understanding our need for salvation. It reveals that human righteousness is insufficient and that only a holy God can impart holiness to us. To be saved, we must realize that we cannot achieve holiness on our own; we rely solely on God's grace to regenerate our hearts and make us into the image of Christ (Colossians 3:10). This understanding leads to a deeper appreciation for grace, as we recognize that God's holiness demands a perfect sacrifice, which was fulfilled in Christ.
