How do we know God's kindness is for Christ's sake?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible reveals that God's mercy toward us is based on His covenant with Christ.

Throughout Scripture, particularly in 2 Samuel, we see that David's kindness to Mephibosheth was predicated upon his covenant with Jonathan. Similarly, God's kindness and mercy to humanity are rooted in His everlasting covenant with Christ. As stated in Galatians 3:16, the promises are made to Christ, who represents the fulfillment of those promises for us. This theological truth is vital for understanding that all acts of grace we receive are ultimately not due to our own merit but are granted because of Christ's righteousness and His sacrificial love on our behalf.
