How do we know God's love for the world is not the same as worldliness?

Answered in 1 source

God loves the world as His creation, but not in the sense of endorsing its sinful values.

John 3:16 states, 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son...' This love is rooted in God's desire to redeem sinners rather than approve of the sinful state of the world. While God loves humanity and desires that none perish, His love is not an endorsement of the world's rebellion against Him. Hence, as believers, we can love individuals in the world, desiring their salvation, while still rejecting the sinful principles that govern worldly behaviors. The distinction lies in our understanding that God's love calls us to actively seek the salvation of souls without compromising our stand against worldliness and its ways.
