How do we know God's love for us amidst suffering?

Answered in 1 source

We recognize God's love for us through His Word and the sacrifice of Christ, not through our circumstances.

Solomon warns in Ecclesiastes 9 that one cannot determine God's love or hatred through worldly events. Many believers mistakenly equate good circumstances with God's love and bad situations with His displeasure. However, the assurance of God's love comes from Scripture and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2 reminds us that we are made alive in Christ and accepted by God. Therefore, our assurance stems from faith in Christ's atoning work, not the fluctuating events around us. The cross is the ultimate display of God's love, reaffirming that He loves us unconditionally, regardless of our earthly trials.
