How do we know God's love is consistent with our suffering?

Answered in 1 source

God's love is consistent with our suffering because suffering serves a purpose in our spiritual growth and draws us closer to Christ (Romans 8:28).

The Apostle Paul makes it clear in Romans 8:18 that the sufferings of this present time are not indicative of God's disfavor, but rather of His divine purpose. God is more interested in our character formation than in our immediate comfort. Suffering allows believers to partake in the fellowship of Christ's sufferings, bringing us into a more profound relationship with our Savior and helping us grow in patience and hope. In essence, suffering is used by God to shape us into the likeness of Christ and is part of His loving plan.
