How do we know God's love is special and not universal?

Answered in 1 source

God's love is specific to His elect, demonstrated through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the sermon, it is highlighted that God's love is not universal but particular, manifested in the Gospel. This love is shown in that He chooses and redeems His people from their sins, as stated in Ephesians 1:4-5. Election is described as God's electing love; thus, those who are chosen are loved in a unique manner that leads to salvation. The Gospel itself is the ultimate demonstration of God's love, where He sends His Son to save His people, emphasizing that His affection is effective and certain.
