How do we know God's mercy is available for our hearts?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy can be accessed through prayers made with a sincere heart towards Him.

According to 1 Kings 8, when individuals acknowledge the plague of their hearts and sincerely pray towards the temple, God promises to hear and forgive. This assurance of mercy is rooted in the character of God as a merciful and compassionate being, who desires reconciliation with His creation. In our present context, the temple represents the person of Jesus Christ, who is our altar and sacrifice. By looking to Christ in faith, we are assured of access to divine mercy and grace that addresses the deepest needs of our souls.
