How do we know God's mercy is available for sinners?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy is demonstrated throughout Scripture, especially in His compassionate response to David's sin.

God's mercy is evidenced in His willingness to forgive those who earnestly repent, as beautifully depicted in David's plea for mercy in Psalm 51. David did not approach God with a sense of entitlement to forgiveness but rather out of desperation, acknowledging his sinfulness and pleading for God's compassion. This reflects God's character as a merciful God who desires to restore and forgive. Isaiah 43:25 affirms this, where God promises to blot out transgressions for His own sake and not remember our sins, showcasing the depth of His grace and mercy extended toward His people, even in their wretchedness.
