How do we know God's mercy is for Christ's sake?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy is extended for Christ's sake because of His perfect obedience and relationship with the Father.

God shows mercy to us for Christ's sake based on several profound theological reasons. Firstly, Christ is the beloved Son of God, identified by the Father in Matthew 3:17 and transfigured in Matthew 17:5, establishing His unique relationship with the Father. Secondly, the glory of Christ's person and His sacrificial work makes Him worthy of this divine mercy. Hebrews 2:10 explains how Christ, by suffering, brought many to glory, thereby being perfect in His role as our mediator. Moreover, Hebrews 10:12 shows that through His one perfect sacrifice, He has perfected forever those who are sanctified. Therefore, the mercy we receive is intricately linked to who Christ is and what He has accomplished for us.
