How do we know God's mercy is our hope?

The Bible consistently portrays God's character as merciful and gracious. In the story of Jonah, we see that He relented from judgment against Nineveh when they repented, illustrating that there is always the opportunity for restoration. Furthermore, the Gospel assures us that through Jesus Christ, we have access to forgiveness and hope. As stated in 1 John 1:9, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us. This promise of mercy is foundational to Christian faith, giving believers hope amidst our failures and the consequences of sin.
