How do we know God's mercy toward us?

Answered in 2 sources

We know God's mercy through His sovereign call and the assurance of being chosen, as mentioned in Romans 9:24.

God's mercy is revealed through His sovereign call to individuals whom He has chosen for salvation. Romans 9:24 states that God has called even those who were not originally part of His covenant people. Understanding that God's mercy is not earned or decided upon by our actions, but is part of His eternal purpose, gives believers assurance of their salvation. As Paul explains, the promise is for everyone whom God calls, demonstrating that His mercy is consistent and deliberate, meant for vessels of honor in His grace. Therefore, knowing God's mercy is intrinsically tied to the recognition of being called according to His purpose.
