How do we know God's presence is more important than the building of a church?

Answered in 1 source

God values the presence of the Holy Spirit and true worship over the physical structure of church buildings.

Jesus makes it clear that God's presence and the quality of worship within a building are more significant than its physical attributes. While a church building should inspire reverence and be suited for worship, it ultimately has little value without genuine faith and spiritual life among its congregants. The early Christians often met in simple and humble settings, yet these gatherings were more pleasing to God than ornate structures absent of spiritual sincerity. As stated, the essence of a church lies in a 'broken and contrite heart' renewed by the Holy Spirit, illustrating that true worship is internal rather than external (Psalm 51:17).
