How do we know God's promises for His people are true?

Answered in 1 source

We know God's promises are true because the foundation of God stands sure, and He knows those who are His (2 Timothy 2:19).

The certainty of God's promises is anchored in His sovereignty and the unchanging nature of His character. In 2 Timothy 2:19, Paul assures us that 'the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.' This verse conveys the profound truth that God's relationship with His people is established and secure, which underscores His faithfulness. No matter what turmoil occurs in the world or within the church, God's purpose for the salvation and glorification of His elect cannot be thwarted. The assurance found in God's knowledge of His people serves to comfort and strengthen faith amidst uncertainty.
