How do we know God's providence is true during tragedies?

Answered in 1 source

God's providence is evident in all circumstances, including tragedies, as He works for the good of His elect.

In times of tragedy, many question the nature of God's providence. However, the Bible assures us that all things, including tragedies, are ultimately under God's control and serve His purposes. Romans 8:28 states, 'And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.' This teaches us that even events that seem evil or tragic can lead to spiritual good, especially for God's elect, as they refine faith and prompt deeper reliance on God. We can trust in His overarching plan and goodness even when we may not immediately see it.
