How do we know God's purpose is effectual?

Answered in 1 source

God's purpose is effectual as it leads to certain outcomes, guaranteed by His sovereign will.

The concept of God's effectual purpose is clearly shown throughout Scripture, particularly in Isaiah 14:27, which states, 'For the Lord of hosts hath purposed; who shall disannul?' This question stresses the power and certainty of God's will. When God purposes something, it will be accomplished without fail, affirming His sovereignty and control over all things.

In Romans 8:28-30, we see God's unbreakable chain of redemption, which ensures that all those who are called according to His purpose will ultimately achieve glorification. The assurance of salvation for the elect is firmly rooted in this effectual purpose, demonstrating that God's plans will not be overthrown or frustrated. This reality gives believers the strength to trust in God’s promises, knowing that He is actively working towards their ultimate redemption.
