How do we know God's purposes in allowing temptation?

Answered in 1 source

God’s purposes in allowing temptation include our spiritual growth and the manifestation of His grace.

God allows temptation for several gracious reasons. It serves to reveal our weaknesses, leading us to a deeper reliance on His strength. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, the Apostle Paul highlights that God's power is made perfect in weakness. Additionally, temptations foster spiritual growth by revealing what is in our hearts, as seen in 1 Peter 1:6-7, which states that trials refine our faith like gold. Therefore, through these tested experiences, we are made aware of God’s sustaining grace and are conformed more into the image of Christ.
