How do we know God's severity is real?

Answered in 1 source

God's severity is evident in the judgment He exercises on those who reject Him, particularly exemplified in the fate of the Jews who stumbled over Christ.

The reality of God's severity is vividly illustrated in Romans 11, where Paul discusses the Jews' rejection of Christ. Their unbelief led to their casting away, which was not an arbitrary act but a direct result of their choices. When the Jews expelled the apostles and turned away from the gospel, God responded decisively by removing the means of salvation from them and directing it to the Gentiles instead. This serves as a warning that God's judgment is real and immediate, reinforcing the need for reverence towards Him and the fear of being cut off should one choose to reject His grace.
