How do we know God's sovereignty and human responsibility can coexist?

The Bible teaches that God's sovereignty encompasses all events while humans act freely according to their nature (Proverbs 16:9).

Scripture presents a clear tension between God's complete sovereignty and human responsibility. While God foreordains all that occurs (Ephesians 1:11), individuals make genuine choices, bearing responsibility for their actions (Proverbs 16:9). For instance, the crucifixion of Christ serves as a striking example where human actors acted freely in sin, yet we see this was part of God's predetermined plan (Acts 2:23). The Lord's Sovereignty does not negate human agency; instead, it coexists within God's divine providence, where He governs all decisions without overriding human will. Therefore, both concepts are not mutually exclusive, but rather part of the holistic understanding of God's engagement with humanity.
