How do we know God's sovereignty does not absolve us of sin?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty and human responsibility coexist; we cannot blame our sins on His sovereignty.

God's sovereignty does not negate human responsibility; rather, it complements it. Romans 9:17-21 makes it clear that God is sovereign over all creation and His purposes are fulfilled through His will. However, this does not relieve individuals of accountability for their actions. When someone argues that God’s sovereignty means they lack responsibility for their sin, they fundamentally misunderstand the nature of God’s sovereignty. Each person acts according to their own desires and must bear the consequences of their sin, as reaffirmed by the Scripture that declares God remains just and true in holding individuals accountable for their actions.
