How do we know God's sovereignty in tragedy?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty is evident in both the order and chaos of life events, as He governs all creation, including tragedies that occur.

The sovereignty of God means that He is in control of all events, including tragic occurrences. For instance, Jesus refers to the individuals killed by Pilate and the fallen tower of Siloam to illustrate that these events did not reflect the moral status of the victims but were part of God's providential decree (Luke 13:1-5). This challenges the common assumption that tragedy is a punishment for particular sin and instead emphasizes God's absolute authority over life and death. God's providence orchestrates everything for His glory and the ultimate good of His people, exemplifying that nothing happens by chance but fits within His divine plan, even when it seems chaotic or senseless to us.
