How do we know God's sovereignty relates to missionary work?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty assures us that He has elect people to save, thus motivating our missionary efforts.

In sovereign grace theology, God's sovereignty is a central tenet that underpins the practice of missionary work. We believe that God has a people whom He will save, chosen by His sovereign will (Ephesians 1:4-5). This understanding compels us to share the gospel widely, knowing that God's elect will respond to the message of grace. As articulated in the sermon, we don't know who these elect are, so we preach the gospel to everyone, fully trusting that God will use this means to call His people to Himself. This provides a solid foundation for our commitment to missions.
