How do we know God's sovereignty relates to suffering?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty encompasses all aspects of life, including suffering, leading to growth and reliance on Him.

The sovereignty of God implies that nothing happens outside of His control, including the pain and suffering that occurs in our lives. Romans 8:23 highlights that all creation is groaning as a result of the fall, yet it is ultimately subjected in hope of redemption. Suffering serves a higher purpose in a Christian's life, often leading to spiritual growth, patience, and a deeper faith. This teaches us to trust in God's good plan, even when we face trials much like Paul's thorn in the flesh in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.
